We got here this afternoon and were greeted at the stop sign and immediately led to the site - can check in later. Wow. Site was fine but no shade. Roads can be tight as are some spaces - like ours. Pool looks to be more hot tub size. We like Wi-Fi - we don't live on the computer; too busy doing other things, but when a place says it has Wi-Fi one expects it to work in a reasonable fashion. I kept having issues and called the office. Oh yeah, there are a dozen people on right now so you will have a problem. Best you try very early in the morning or very late at night, I am told. Kind of like - yeah, we know it is bad, but take it or leave it. Attitude issue to be sure. Will have some time tomorrow and will check out another park down the road; we are only here a couple of days but would not come back again or recommend it.

This is our second visit here - were here a year ago for a couple nights and six nights this time. Probably the best KOA we have stayed at - great view out our back window (but we knew what spot to reserve based on last year!). And one of the best RV parks we have stayed at, bar none (have been to about 150, give or take a handful). Place is very clean. Staff is outstanding and always spotless in their yellow shirts and all. One little touch that really impressed us. Our site was not only spotless to pull in to but they rake it from front to back which gives you the impression they really care, and that they were there to take care of it. We plan to go back and highly recommend it.

We lived in Estes Park 1995-2003 & stored here; this is our third trip back. I have always said that Elk Meadow is not a great RV park but it is the best in Estes. I still feel that way. But I also feel it has gone downhill a great deal. On the positive side it is very close to RMNP, has many activities, has great views which means not too many trees, etc. When we were here last year they acknowledged the WiFi was bad and the manager sent me an email when we got home and said a whole new system had been put in and was great. Well, we are here for a month this year - 3 weeks to go - and the WiFi is marginal at best; they even told me in the office that their speed is low and they get dropped off. It is dusty - it is gravel. Yes, there are ruts and the sites are uneven -- 3 orange blocks worth. Cable is $2.50 / night; I set up the Dish. The Hot tub spa is now working again; it was down for a while. This says something. The manager & spouse and 3 work camping couples all quit and left about July 1st. Don't know details and not sure I want to but you can imagine staff issues right now. The new manager has just been hired; local person. Before she came they gave me the name of the owners to call with several items and he seemed nice enough but nothing changed. One major concern is that there is very marginal cell phone service here. They removed the only outside pay phone by the office. There is no way to call out once the office / lodge has closed and this, to me, is a serious issue in case of emergency. There is nothing posted on the office as to whom to contact on site in case of an emergency. I brought this to the attention of the staff here and the owner rep a week ago and they basically have ignored it and did not get back to me on it as promised. But ........ I would stay here again as it is the best place in town! Honest.

Nice enough place for an overnight except voltage is so low the A/C won't stay on (we are on 50) and it is 99 degrees outside. We have shut down everything else and still drops off. Checked the voltage - it is 108-109 volts. And the Wi-Fi is very spotty. We would not stay here again nor recommend it.

This is a wonderful RV park. First of all, it is well designed providing well spaced both back-in and pull through spots. Each site is full hook up, 50 amp. There are great views of Cheyenne Mountain and Colorado Springs from all sites - the night lights view of Colorado Springs is great. Facilities are first class and spotless. Trails are well marked, varying lengths and a variety of woods and grasslands. The only downside is no WiFi - which is not uncommon for a state park; but could be added at the Visitor Center. This is one of the nicest places we have stayed, would stay again and highly recommend it.

This is a nice place and our site (70) was very level. I would have given them a much higher rating except for the terrible WiFi and no picnic tables. They have a nice, wind protected area for each site but no table. I think a very few sites had them but only a few. The WiFi was something else - probably the slowest I have seen anywhere - rv park, coffee shop, you name it. Sometimes it could take 5 minutes to load a standard page. I talked to them about it and they said they knew it was really slow. They did not seem too concerned about it.

This is the best rv park in the area; but not all that great. We stayed for a week as there was a lot of things in the area we wanted to do. We told the owner when we checked in that the spa was important to us - use it after hiking. What we were NOT told that, since the pool, spa and fitness center were indoors and were locked up when he was not in the office - he leaves pretty early and it is closed Sundays and holidays. So our use was very limited. TV service went out for days (still out when we left) - not that important to us except for news on occasion. We like this area for hiking / exlploring and will most likely stay here again - but now we know what to expect.

The pull through sites are very long and staggered entry so that you really do not have anyone off your patio area right next door. It is very clean and very well maintained. The only downside is that it is 10 miles from town. There are lots of park models but all well kept up. Lots of green area as well.

We were there just for an overnight. Wanted to check it out with the new ownership. We were very, very impressed (and we tend to be fussy!). We did not want / need the pool or playground but they may have been the best we have ever seen. The whole place was spotless. Big, level pull-through. Great enclosed places for dogs (2 places). John, the new owner, is very nice and wants to re-build the image here. Highly recommend and certainly would go back.

I am surprised no one has reviewed this RV park that has been here for many years. It is older but clean. There is one island of backins to each other but think those people are here for the whole summer season. And an island of pull thrus - plenty large for very big rigs. Then a long row of backins along the river - this is what you ask for! There is a nice path along the river with only fairly short walk into the pools in town. The whole park is gravel but each spot has a picnic table. The views from the park are outstanding...canyon walls on both sides and the mountains behind Ouray at the end. This is our third time here and would stay again.

Pretty much agree with last posted comments except that there is not a charge for the TV. If you have a 5er with back window as for Row G; then you get a great view of Long's Peak. Laundry is excellent. Lots of activities. Roads could use some improvement but no real big deal. The WiFi is terrible -- you are on and off and on and off. However, this is the best park in Estes.

This is a pretty nice facility. Hot tub - for my bad back - was one of the best we have ever seen. Just had a staff issue: we made the reservation on 11/2/07, and we arrived here at 1 pm. We have a KOA Kard. We are stuck in the furthest back, and probably worst, site in the place! All kinds of other spaces closer to the buildings. I called the office and manager was out to lunch. (I won't go there!). Asked to have the person stop by or call me. Never stopped by and never called. I don't handle that kind of poor service well.

First class operation with wonderful owners. We were on the upper level - kind of tough to get to but just 3 wonderful sites. Very helpful with local info and all. We will be back!

This place is more rustic than most, but we liked the trees and shade! Wi-Fi did not work for me; they have problems with only a small percentage of people (they say). There was no TV. They were very nice people, but I felt it was overpriced for what was there.

An older park, but well kept up. Big pull thru spaces are great for an overnight - which is what we have used it for several times.

We were quite pleased with this park. Downside is the entry; makes you wonder. Some of that is not their facility; but some is - a fence to hide all the junk would be in order. Nice little lake and path around it. Sites large, concrete pad, grass in between, etc.

We really liked this park and will definitely go back again. The only reason I downgraded them was the Wi-Fi. However, they are limited by having only one provider in town who simply does not respond to them. They gave me his number to call, and I did; he did not return my call. The managers and staff are great, and there are lots of activities. They work hard to get group tent camping for teenagers, and they really do a job to educate them on the area and history. Just great people and a great program.

Yes, this place sure could use a face-lift but it is kept up very well for the immense amount of use it gets. We would go back again - and have done so a few times. There is no WiFi in the Trailer Village but there is at the library at the Park HQ - and it is free.

We have stayed here several times - extremely clean and well appointed. We use this as a base for all the places around including Sedona. Highly recommend it.

I was not sure of a 6 or a 7 but gave the 7. This is not fancy but definitely suitable. The restrooms and laundry were spotless. The pool was not open but looked like it needed work before it could be. The owner was very nice. We used this as a stopover between Pahrump and the Grand Canyon and would do so again.

The new section in the back has very nice asphalt sites with grass and palm trees. The restroom was clean but very small. The laundry room was a mess and obviously had not been cleaned for some time - the floor was filthy and all kinds of dirt on it.

I don't give out a 10 but this comes as close as I can! It is spotless and wonderful sites. And great people. We did not hear hardly any highway and no train noise. Have used this for an over night many times and would come back again for sure. It should be noted that you most likely need a reservation - only a few sites. Seems a new mine opening up, a new hospital and Chrysler taking over a Ford proving ground has given them nearly 100% resident customers. But not an issue by an means.

We have been here several times and like it very much. I would give it a higher rating except for one main reason - the WiFi was marginal at best and the most expsensive we have ever experienced. And the spa temperature is not up to standard. But we certainly would return.

Nothing fancy but good, clean place. This is the third time we have overnighted there and would do it and recommend it anytime. Nice pull through sites, spotless restrooms, etc. Make sure you stop at the General Store in town - great people there as well and most any supplies you would need. Check out the basement for antique treasures. They also have both gas and diesel and cheaper than Alturus.

One of our favorite places. The restrooms and laundry are a little older but spotless. The setting is one to die for. And so much to do there and in the area. We is a return for us over and over. Great owners and staff.

I don't give out 10's but we came in here for two nights based on a change in plans. After the "WalMart lot with hookups" rv park we just left in Oliver, BC this is a true and welcome sight. Would come back again and highly recommend it.

Never say "Never". Said I would "never" rate anyplace or anything a "10". This RV park gets one; a first for me even after all these years. It is only three years old and the trees will grow. The location is kind of remote but no big deal - the park and staff are superb.

This is the 4th time we have stayed here; we use it as our last stop on the way home. Do laundry, etc. Maybe the cleanest RV laundry room we have ever seen. WiFi was great. No much in Gila Bend but would highly recommend this park as a stopover.

We stayed there for 3 nights and it was fine. Nothing outstanding but clean and they tried hard to do what they could for you and to keep it up. We would go back and would recommend it for someone for a short stay.

New and very clean and nice. All asphalt roads and sites. Only real downside was no picnic table which a new park like this - at this price - should have.

This place is a Wal-Mart parking lot with hookups. It is clean and modern - no trees. Very little grass and you cannot use your picnic table on it unless you move it at night - so people use theirs on the blacktop. WiFi works if you choose to disable your Firewall and other protection and use their un-secured site. They have a real "attitude" - lots of rules which must be obeyed or you get charged.

They work very hard to make this a good place and we feel they have done a great job. Staff is super and all are well groomed and polite. It is wide open but great views. The new pool - soon to open - will be the largest we have ever seen in an RV park other than a few resort types. The new spa is HUGE. We were extremely pleased and would go back again. People said we should check out Johnson's and we did - won't give a review on it as we did not stay there, and, simply stated, would NOT stay there.

Stayed two nights as we LOVE Bryce Canyon! Quite dusty, which is the only thing we found that we did not care for, but no big deal. Lots of ATV's, but no problems of all night parties or anything, all very well mannered. Had long pull thru site (102). Will be going back again.

Stayed for an overnight; lots of trees for shade and quite nice. Staff was very good. Seem to have lots of long term people for the lake use, but no issues at all. Would stay here again for sure.

Nice enough park but not really "great". The WiFi did not reach our site more than 50% of the time although they assured me when I called to make a reservation and at check in that it would be great. Laundry room stifling hot and staff would not allow the door to office open to allow a little of the air conditioning in. Very unhappy people - including my GW. They hooked up water to water the grass without saying anything to us; water pressure in our site dropped to less than half. People in other rows kept losing power - we were ok. Not sure we would come here again but appears to be about the best in the area except for the KOA which is considerably more expensive.

Stayed here for an overnight. Nice place. The staff was among the best we have ever seen anyplace. Even though they were packed with people, they worked it out so we could have a spot for the night.

We are here for Craters of the Moon. Have to fully agree with the other posting here - Ron & Kat run this place; without outside help. Spotless is an understatement ! Only two washers / dryers, but among the best we have ever seen. Lots of grass and shade trees. I don't know when Ron sleeps - he is working constantly; setting sprinklers before we were even out with the dog, and we are up at sunrise or before. Highly recommended it here.

Very clean and very pretty. We got a site on the gravel and you want to ask for the grass. This gravel area appeared to be an playground or something at one time and they decided to make it into three sites; not real good. We would go there again.

Used it for an overnight as I had to go to Mayo Hospital for a shot for my back (very handy place to stay for the hospital). We were in a pull-thru site (501) and it was good. Level. Typical AZ park - gravel. Wonderful indoor pool and good laundry (did not use it but checked it out). Staff extremely helpful - needed directions, etc. How about an ice machine with free ice - have not seen that before.

First, let me say this. This place is beautiful and spotless - first class without a doubt. But we are paying $46.50 per night Good Sam rate. There is no TV and they charge you extra for everything - in spite of the extremely high price. Cell phones don't work here and they charge very high fees for the phone service. WiFi is another $5 a day. We don't use them but if you did want to take a shower that is another $1 a time. We will never be back here or recommend them.

This is an unfortunate addition to the review I gave in October. When we got our Visa bill we noticed that they had charged us more that the store receipt we had for a purchase. The store receipt was correct. In spite of several efforts, they have refused to credit our account or send us a refund. Not the kind of people I want to do business with. And my earlier posting gives the rest of our feelings. Never again there nor recommend them.
